Asante Kotoko goalkeeping coach Joe Baah has advised out of favour shot-stopper Eric Ofori Antwi to consider joining another club ahead of next season.

The 23-year-old lost his place last season to Ernest Sowah and further became a third choice after an incredible performance from Felix Annan, who stood in for Sowah following an injury.

Antwi could only manage eight games in all competitions last season, his worst career record.

“I think it’s about time Eric quit Asante Kotoko because he is a young goalkeeper and needs more playing time to improve,” Baah told Adom FM.

“It is not easy to keep three good goalkeepers in the same team and if you take a look at the league matches in Ghana, it is not many for everyone to play a part. So if you have goalkeepers who are very committed and hard working, one will surely have to leave.

“I think two goalkeepers will be cool for Kotoko despite the fact that one or both can be suspended at a point but it’s time he leaves. I will personally plead with the management on his behalf so that they allow him to go because he also has a future to protect. He is a wonderful goalkeeper and a national asset,” he added.

Antwi joined Kotoko from Amidaus Professionals in August 2013, after helping Ghana’s U20 team to win bronze at the Fifa World Youth Championship few months earlier.
