(PHOTOS) Asantehemaa Goes home today
The late Asantehemaa, Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, shall be put to rest at the Bremang Mausoleum today Thursday, January 19.
A burial service shall be conducted for her by the Anglican Church at the Manyhia palace park before the body is conveyed to the Bantama Mausoleum and from there to the Bremang Mausoleum for burial.
Otumfuor is expected to sit in state again for an hour to receive dignitaries who might not have been able to file past the Asantehemaa’s body during the 3days.
Plans to convey the body to the St Cyprian Anglican Church at were changed on Tuesday.
Shops and Schools have been closed ahead of the burial of the Asantehemaa whiles banks and other institutions have planned to work half day.
Citizens are to remain indoors from 7pm until 3am, Friday after the burial of the Asantehemaa.
A delegation of chiefs from Nigeria led by His Royal Highness Igwe Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, have arrived at the Manyhia palace to pay their last respect to the late Asantehemaa.
The crowd size has doubled and is dangerously saturated as Asanteman observes the climax of the 4day burial rites of the late Asantehemaa.
Though it is a burials service conducted by the Anglican church, fetish priests including Kwaku Bonsam were still getting all the attention at the venue with their wild dance moves.
