SSNIT sacks discredited IT boss

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has sacked its embattled General Manager of the Management Information System, Dr. Caleb Afaglo.
The decision to fire the IT boss was taken at an emergency Board and Management meeting on August 30, 2017 at the Pension House in Accra.
Dr. Afaglo until his dismissal was on interdiction following the exposé that he allegedly used fake certificates to secure his job at SSNIT. “Evidence made available to the Trust indicates that the University degrees presented by Dr. Afaglo to secure his employment at the Trust are fake,” a statement announcing his sack said.
The brouhaha surrounding Dr. Afaglo’s issue follows allegations of misuse of funds at SSNIT in the purchase of the controversial $72 million Operating Business Suite (OBS).
The issue is being investigated by the Economic and Organized Crime Office. SSNIT has so far indicated its readiness to cooperate with the state’s anti-graft agency.
The statement signed by Victoria Gifty Abaidoo, Ag. Corporate Affairs Manager, said: “The Trust will collaborate with Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to ensure that those suspected of breaches of the Law in respect of the OBS Contract are dealt with In accordance with the laws of the land.”
It also promised to name persons associated with the OBS contracts soon.
The statement added that SSNIT Board and Management will also publish the findings of the PricewaterhouseCoopers.
“We are committed to cleaning up the Trust and rightly positioning it to serve the Interest of its stakeholders.”
