9 killed  in gory accident at Yapei, 30 injured 

At least 9 persons are reported dead and 30 others are critically injured after Yutong bus from Tamale to Kumasi with registration number GC 5148- Z  crash with Kia Bus from Kumasi to Tamale with registration number GT 5892- 16 at Yapei on the Tamale -Kintampo highway in Central Gonja district of the Northern region Saturday around 12:30 am.

The Northern regional police spokesperson ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko confirmed the the accident to Adom News said, police received information that there is a fatal accident at Yapei on the the Tamale Kumasi High way qnd police rushed to the scene at 10kms from Yapei town when driving from Tamale to kumasi.

ASP Tanko said at the scene of the accident investigation revealed that Yutong bus with registration number GC 5148 Z was traveling from Tamale to Kumasi whilst  Kia bus  GT5892 16 was also traveling from Kumasi towards Tamale with passengers on board both buses.

He added that, when the buses  reach a section of the road  at Yipala Village about 10km to Yapei driving from Kumasi towards Tamale direction it was alleged both buses collided head-on and 9 persons dead instantly and 30 critically injured.

The bodies and injured persons have been sent to Tamale Teaching Hospital.
