Auspicious GHANAsoccernet.com writer Sheikh Tophic Sienu had described former Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye as the worst ever sport Minister.
He said Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, first meeting with Sport Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), stated that he will never discuss Black Stars bonuses on air or in public, but, however, in three days time he was on a TV station questioning why Black Stars Players must be given winning bonuses when they are playing qualifies.
Speaking on Otec FM Royal Sports on November 2, 2017 with the host Isaac Osei Akoto, popularly knownj as Kanu, Sheikh Tophic Sienu who described Nii Lartey as hypocrite and worst sports minister, stated that he couldn’t add any value to Ghana sports during his administration.
“Nii Lante goes into the history books as the worst Sports Minister the country has ever had following his style of always addressing issues in the media instead of addressing the appropriate quarters,” he stressed.
According to Sheikh Tophic, the boisterous leadership style of former sports minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye insisting he assumed office with a mind set to hunt the Ghana FA.
He added that the same person was on TV questioned why Black Stars players must be given business class tickets when they are coming to play for the Black Stars.
“He has forgotten that when he was a Journalist like me, he travels by passengers’ car to work, when he became an MP he was given a land cruiser and when he became a minister he was given another land cruiser,” the outspoken Journalist stressed.
“He didn’t say I have the land cruiser given to me as Member of Parliament so I won’t take another land cruiser, he took it in addition,” he said.
” is it not Nii Lantey Vanderpuye who bought car in the cost of 8million when NDC handed over, you know such kind of people they come with a picture of being statesmen but the end of they they are looters,” Sheikh Tophic emphasized.
He noted that the Nii Lante’s posture towards the GFA was not the best styles of leadership the ministry needed.
“Leadership obviously means leading a group of people. When you set into an office with the mindset of doing things your own way, you will never succeed. When you go to the people, stay with them and learn from what they have, you don’t go with a mindset,” he said.
According to him, in every organization a Leader is elected to transform its image not to behave.
“you are there because we know you are wise person, we know you are a sound minded person, we know that you are matured to interact with people to share ideas for the progress of the organization, but he did nothing to transform the image of GFA” Sheikh Tophic noted.
