Three armed robbers arrested in military uniform

The Tarkwa circuit court, Presided over by His Lordship Emmanuel Blang Brew has remanded three suspected armed robbers to Tarkwa Police Custody and to reappear on 21st November, 2017.

The suspected armed robbers who were in military uniform was arrested by the Wasa Akropong Police command on Friday 28th October,2017 at Wasa Asikuma a town near Wasa Akropong in the Wasa Amenfi east district of the Western region.

Three (3) suspects who posed as military men were arrested by the Wassa Akropong police command.

Residents of the town say they have been subjected to such robberies in the past two months but the several reports made to the police have amounted to nothing.

It only took the courage of some town folks who realized that the suspects were not military personnel and managed to apprehend and hand them over to the Wassa Akropong Police.

Some of the residents and a victim of the robbers, Abugri Haruna confirmed to Empire Community News that the suspects took responsibility for the robbery incidents recorded in the area and have threatened to kill residents who facilitated their arrest if they are released.

Haruna said, “they say they will be back to kill me and all the others who arrested and handed them over to the police, ‘our boss will let us out soon we will kill all of you.”

According to him, he was nearly killed when the suspects broke into his room and robbed him but it took pleas from his pregnant wife for the robbers spared his life.

“I urged them to take anything they want but pleaded with them to spare my life so I can take care of my pregnant wife and the unborn baby,” Haruna said.

The suspects are said to have also confirmed, upon further interrogation that the military uniforms and handcuffs are supplied them by their Kumasi based leader.
