Alcoholic Beverage Consumers Association of Ghana to petition the President over alcoholic ban

A group calling itself The Alcoholic Beverage Consumers Association of Ghana says it is considering registering its misgivings over Food and Drugs Authority’s guideline banning advertisement of alcoholic beverage on radio and television between 6.00am and 8.00pm.

The association feels that the ban is collapsing the alcoholic beverage industries as well as affecting revenue of media houses that advertise the various alcoholic beverages.

President of the association, Mr. Emmanuel Kwaku Addai Poku, argued that if the regulation seeks to protect minors, then it has been misapplied because kids will be at school whilst the ban is being enforced.

He disclosed that the petition would reach the President before the end of this week.

Mr. Addai Poku stressed that members of Alcoholic Beverage Consumers Association of Ghana are not drunkards but responsible and noble individuals who are average consumers of Alcoholic for good reasons.
