Eid ul-Fitr: Let peace prevail-A/R Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, has called on Muslims to uphold the peaceful coexistence that has existed between them and other religious groups.
Mr Osei-Mensah said this will help to promote peace and maintain law and order in the region.
He also urged the Muslim youth to eschew all acts of indiscipline, fighting amongst each other, drug abuse, among others since it will not help in the march towards development.
He further encouraged the Muslim youth to use the Ramadan period to bury their differences, love each other and live in harmony.
Mr Osei-Mensah gave these bits of advice at the Eid al-Fitr celebration at the Kumasi Central Mosque held on 5 June 2019.
He further admonished Muslims to actively participate and support the numerous government policies aimed at developing the country.
Meanwhile, Otumfuo’s Sumankwahene, Baffour Asabre Kogyawoasu II, has bemoaned the rate at which chieftaincy disputes are increasing in Zongo communities in the Ashanti Region.
He said the disputes are destroying and dragging the development of the communities and should be curbed immediately.
The Asantehene’s Chief Priest noted that some of the Zongo communities have two or more chiefs, a situation which he said is uncommon and should not happen under any condition.
He urged the Regional Chief Imam and his elders to intervene in such situations and resolve them amicably without escalation.
Baffour Asabre Kogyawoasu II was also speaking at the same event to mark the Eid celebrations.
