I was sacked for not playing ”nice football” – Zdravko Logarusic

Former coach of the porcupine warriors, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Zdravko Logarusic has shared reasons for his dismissal from his position as head coach of the team.

The Croatian coach was engaged by Kotoko on January 10, 2017. He however started work on January 12. He led the Porcupines in 11 league matches in which he won five, drew four and lost two. His tactics came under strong scrutiny and criticisms from fans – many of who questioned his 3-5-2 formation.

Zdravko Logarusic told Osei Akoto Kanu on Otec royal sports that his contract was terminated after management informed him that supporters of the club were unhappy because he was not playing ‘nice football.”

”I told the team that i came to play for results and not just nice football but they insisted supporters were not happy, so i agreed to leave and allow them find a good coach who will play nice football and make supporters happy.”

”I was just one point behind the league leaders, Aduana stars. When they fired me i was number 2 on the league table with 18 points whiles Aduana stars had 19 points at the number one spot yet they complained that i was not playing nice football,” he recounted.

According to him, he reminded the management of Kotoko that he lost 2 away matches against hearts of oak and Medeama due to dubious penalty decisions against him but they were bent on terminating his contract.
