C/R: Frustrate Fishermen Cries Over Premix Shortage In Ankaful

Fishermen at Ankaful fishing commnuity in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region have not received premix fuel for operations.

According to them,the situation has conutine for past three months and now is serious affecting their business.

“how can we work without fuel ?” how do we feed our families when we don’t go to work?” ,they questioned the government.

“We voted for President Nana Addo to take care of us not so that we will die,we have to travel to ekumfi kormantse, and its environs to purchase fuel at high cost,.

Apparently, fishing is the only source of livelihood for many people in Ankaful and it’s adjourning communities.

In a press conference today 19th Tuesday, 2020 at the community center, Secretary of Ankaful Premix Committee Mr Joseph Mensah said series of phone calls to the national premix committee in Accra informing them of the shortage for the commodity in that last three months weeks has yielded no result.

“our community has large number of fishermen so the government should do well to bring us premix fuel constantly” he stated.

Therefore, we are appealing to as matter of urgency to tackle the issue to increase the supply of premix fuel.

Some of the fishermen’s who spoke to media menconcerning the shortage of premix fuel explained that, fishing business is dying due to the shortage of premix and adding to it that most people in the coastal towns making it difficult for them to a living,

We all have families and we cannot stop working it will be difficult for us to cater for our families if we do not go to sea government must listen to our problem and help us.

They added, currently most of us (fishermen’s) in the area have resort to buying petrol and engine oil at higher cost to enable them stay in business.
