NPP needs strong candidate to take down NDC in 2028 – Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum

Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has emphasized the need for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to field a presidential candidate who can wrestle political power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 elections.

Dr Adutwum, a former Education Minister, has declared his intentions to contest for the party’s presidential candidacy, citing his proven track record and ability to bring party members on board.

Dr. Adutwum’s announcement closely follows the NPP’s confirmation of January 31, 2026, as the official date for its presidential primary, a timeline set by the party’s National Council after recommendations from the constitutional review committee.

Dr Adutwum’s vision for NPP’s success
In an interview on Otec FM’s “Dwabrem” show on Friday, June 20, 2025, Dr Adutwum highlighted the importance of unity and marketability in the party’s candidate.

He noted that “the party’s delegates would choose a candidate who can bring people together and has a strong appeal to the electorate”.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum expressed confidence that his experience and leadership skills make him an ideal candidate for the job.

A proven track record
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum’s credentials as a former Education Minister are impressive.

He has made significant contributions to the development of Ghana’s education sector, and his declaration of interest in the presidential race has generated interest among NPP members and delegates.
