Govt begins paying 325, 960 households on LEAP programme

The Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection on Monday, February 19 began the 88th cycle cash grant payment to beneficiary households of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.

LEAP is a social protection programme for impoverished households aimed at reducing extreme poverty by smoothening consumption and promoting human capital development through cash grants and access to other social services.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Gender Ministry said the LEAP Programme had 350,141 households.

“Out of this number of households, 325, 960 households will be paid nationwide. Keep in mind that, for the 88th cycle payment, households with one eligible member will be paid GHC128.00 while households with two eligible members will be paid GHC152.00.

“Then households with three eligible members will be paid GHC176.00, and households with four or more eligible members will be paid GHC212.00.

“However, the remaining Twenty-Five Thousand, One Hundred and Eighty-One (25,181) households will not be paid due to ongoing validation and reassessment exercises across the country,” it added.

The Gender Ministry expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support towards the LEAP programme.
