KATH Job Challenging But Rewarding – Prof Otchere Addai Mensah Admits

Chief Executive Officer at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Professor Otchere Addai Mensah says working at the premier health facility in the Ashanti Region has been very challenging to him as a person.

However, he admits that despite the momentary setbacks and bottle necks at the hospital God has made the job rewarding for him.

Speaking to veteran journalist and morning show host, KOJO Marfo on Abusua Fm last week, Prof Addai Mensah said seeing staff and and other workers who are determined to  partner him to give off their best in the care of their clients and customer was fulfilling.

“You will see one or two difficult people and abnormal happenings at KATH but having a determined staff whose commitment is to ensure that they stand with you to make things work is encouraging and inspiring”, the CEO stated.

Heal Komfo Anokye Project:

Speaking about the now famous Heal Komfo Anokye Project, an initiative to rehabilitate and completely renovate the over 70 year old health facility, Prof Addai Mensah praised the Overlord of Asanteman for the initiative and decision to raise funds to carry out same.

Currently, he noted that contributions from the public in United States  dollar terms was about 515, 000 while the cedi terms stand at over 5million Ghana   cedis.

The CEO also mentioned that two Chief Executives from JOSHOB and JUSTMOH Construction Companies have each promised 1.2 million Ghana   cedis to the project.

“To ensure complete transparency all monies mentioned have been deposited in an account which is superintended by the Board of Trustees and for the two persons separate accounts have been created with they being signatories including myself and we will agree to the usage of the funds when they deposit same before any amount leaves same because we are determined to ensure every dime given for the project is appropriated toward same”, the CEO stated.

Support System:

The CEO noted that the passion to do what was right at all times and the determination to excell in what he does has always come from God Almighty.

He also mentioned that his stay at KATH has been the trust and confidence he had had from the President of the Republic and the Asantehene, who he described as a father who has been keeping an eye on him every step of the way.

The CEO admitted that his work ethic has come from the training he received from the Trinity Baptist Church and many other persons who taught him in church and in school. 

“I am determined to honour the President and Otumfuo as well as every single person whose trust is to see me do a good job at KATH and i pray together with my staff we are enabled to offer the best of care and service to our clients and customers who come to our facility”, the CEO stressed.
