Election 2024: Canadian-based Travel and Tours operator files to contest NDP presidential primaries

Canadian-based Travel and Tours operator Nana Osei Bonsu

Canadian-based Travel and Tours operator Nana Osei Bonsu has filed his nominations to contest the flagbearer presidential primaries of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

It was filed on his behalf by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDP Nana Aduse Poku Agyemang at the party’s headquarters at Kokomlemle in Accra on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Some party supporters were at the party’s office to offer their solidarity to the Canadian-based politician during the forms presentation.

The forms were received by the General Secretary of the National Democratic Party, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, and present were other National Executives.

By filing his nomination forms, Nana Osei Bonsu becomes the third aspiring candidate to do so, after the close of the nomination on Tuesday.

The contest has become necessary following the decision by the founder and leader of NDP, Dr Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, not to contest the 2024 presidential elections.

Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings contested the 2012, 2016, and 2020, after severing ties from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to form her own party.

Receiving the forms, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong said “On behalf of the founder and colleague NEC members, we are indeed delighted that Nana Osei Bonsu one of the flagbearer aspirants has successfully filed his forms. We will go through the forms and later put it into vetting.”

He advised the aspirants to remain calm as their forms are being critically looked into for the vetting to take place at an announced date.

Nana Aduse Poku Agyemang speaking to Otec News reporter Charles Nyamedi after the filing said Nana Osei Bonsu will be the better candidate to wrestle political power from the corrupt New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

“Nana Osei Bonsu remains the only candidate who can actually break the duopoly of the NPP and NDC who have woefully disappointed the citizenry with their corrupt governments,” he stated.
