Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum pledges support to rainstorm disaster victims at Jarchie

The Member of Parliament MP for Bosomtwe constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum has pledged to support residents who had their homes collapsed in a rainstorm disaster at Jarchie

The Minister of Education’s pledge comes after he visited the community with officials of the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO to get firsthand information about the incident

Over one hundred residents of Jarchie were displaced by a rainstorm disaster which leads to the death of a 15-year old girl

The sad incident which occurred on Thursday May 17, 2024 saw over five houses collapsing completely with some 200 others having its roof ripped off by the storm

The residents in an earlier interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng, pleaded with corporate society and other benevolent organizations to come to their aid.

Responding to the call by the victims, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum said he will do everything possible to support the affected ones

He however expressed worry over the situation, adding that Issues of such nature are difficult to control

He called on the victims to remain calm, assuring them that, they will soon get relief items to help them survive the turbulence.

Meanwhile the Assembly Member for Jachie East Electoral Area, Hon Rachard Bimpeh commended the MP for calling on the victims after the disaster.

He revealed that most of victims  are either sleeping outside or are perching with their neighbors causing inconvenience for them, adding that, the MPs visit came at a crucial moment when the needed a shoulder to rest  their head.

He added that, he was very optimistic about the MPs pledge however, he appealed to other authorities in the district, Ashanti Region and Ghana at large to as a matter of urgency join hands with the MP and support the affected residents
