The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has emphasized the need for responsible and accountable leadership to address Ghana’s economic challenges.
While addressing the launch of the NDC’s manifesto in Winneba, Mahama stated that the country requires a reset in its attitudes to move forward.
He stressed the importance of businesses progressing regardless of party affiliation, religion, or ethnic background.
The flagbearer stated that the country’s current state demands a government that galvanizes the efforts of all Ghanaians to achieve their goals.
Mahama called for leadership that will crack down on appointees who engage in wrongdoing, respect citizens’ rights and freedoms, including journalists.
He also highlighted the need to fight corruption by deploying the “Operation Recover All the Loot” principle.
According to Mahama, the country needs a change that will usher in a government that is responsible and accountable and will open up the country for business again.
“Our nation needs a reset; our attitudes need a reset. We need a government that galvanizes the efforts of all Ghanaians, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or party affiliation. We need a government that will allow all businesses to thrive, whether owned by domestic or foreign investors, no matter their ethnic, religious, or partisan backgrounds.”
“We need to make a change—a change that will usher in a government that is responsible and accountable. We need to open up this country for business again. We need leadership that will crack down when its own appointees go astray. We need a responsible government that will respect the rights and freedoms of our citizens, including journalists, and address the ongoing decay of state institutions and fight corruption by deploying the ‘Operation Recover All the Loot’ principles.”
