Don’t Politicize Electricity – ECG Boss to Ghanaians
The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Mr. Samuel Dubik Mahama, has cautioned Ghanaians against politicizing electricity, emphasizing the need for a collective effort to address power challenges.
With Ghana’s power sector facing numerous challenges, ECG’s Managing Director, Mr. Samuel Dubik Mahama, is calling for a unified approach to address the issues.
He warns that turning electricity into a political football will only hinder progress, and is instead advocating for a collective effort to ensure a stable and reliable power supply for all Ghanaians.
Speaking on OTEC FM’s Nyansapo Morning show hosted by Captain Koda on September 5, 2024, Mr. Mahama stressed that electricity is a necessity for all and should not be turned into a political matter.
“Let’s not politicize electricity, it’s a necessity for all of us, We need to work together to find solutions to the power challenges.”He stated.
He noted that, to address power challenges, the ECG is installing new digital meters across the nation, which Mr. Mahama revealed is free of charge.
He entreated the general public not to pay any amount for the installation.
On the issue of acquiring meters, the Managing Director advised Ghanaians to visit the Municipal and District offices of ECG, warning against dealing with “goro boys” (middlemen) who may demand unauthorized payments.
Mr. Mahama’s call for a depoliticized approach to addressing electricity challenges comes as the country strives to improve its power infrastructure.
