Blame irresponsible parenting for indiscipline among SHS students– Dr. Addai Amanfo

Renowned Educationist Dr. Barnabas Addai Amanfo has attributed the recent surge in indiscipline among senior high school students to irresponsible parenting.
According to Dr. Amanfo, many parents have failed to fulfill their responsibility of providing proper training and guidance to their children before sending them to school.
The lecturer at the Department of Educational Leadership at AAMUSTED expressed this view during a discussion on the Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show, Nyansapo, on Tuesday April 08, 2025.
Dr. Amanfo’s comments come in the wake of recent cases highlighting the high level of indiscipline in senior high schools in Ghana.
In his opinion, molding a child is a collaborative effort that requires parents to do their part in supporting teachers.
Dr. Amanfo noted that many parents, after sending their wards to school, abandon them to their challenges without even checking up on them.
He emphasized that it will take a concerted effort between parents and teachers to instill discipline among students in Ghana.
