Ashanti Region: ECG completes Ridge transformer upgrade ahead of schedule, pledges stable power
The Electricity Company of Ghana ECG has completed the replacement of power transformers at the Ridge Bulk Supply Point in the Ashanti Region, months ahead of the original May 2026 deadline.
Acting Managing Director Ing. Kwame Kpekpena said the upgrade was fast-tracked due to support from the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor.
The improvement is expected to enhance power supply and reliability across the region.
“I assure our stakeholders that ECG is on course to completing works they promised to complete within three to six months in the region,” Ing. Kpekpena said during the minister’s tour of ECG facilities in Ashanti on Friday.
He added that ECG is working on other scheduled facilities to ensure constant power supply to the public.
Ing. Kpekpena commended Dr. Jinapor for his support and stated that ECG will continue working to serve its customers well.
The transformer replacement at Ridge BSP is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at stabilizing electricity delivery in the Ashanti Region.
