Armed robbers shoot MoMo Vendor in ribs in Agona-Mankron mass robbery attack

A mobile money vendor is in critical condition after being shot in the ribs by armed robbers during a robbery attack at Agona Mankron Junction in the Agona East District of the Central Region.

According to information gathered, six heavily armed men stormed the Agona Mankron township and carried out a series of robberies.

The attackers targeted mobile money vendors, shops, drivers, and commuters. Three MoMo vendors were reportedly robbed during the operation.

The robbers also attempted to attack a filling station, but workers managed to escape before the operation could be carried out.

Speaking to OTEC News, an eyewitness, Kojo Assan, said residents had received information that armed men had invaded the town and were attacking MoMo vendors, a filling station, drivers, and other commuters.

He added that the robbers later moved towards Kwanyarko, where they blocked the Bawjiase-Swedru road and robbed commuters at gunpoint.

Kojo Assan said the entire community has been thrown into fear and panic.

He noted that many residents have fled into nearby bushes, while others have sought refuge in the community cemetery to escape indiscriminate gunfire.

Residents are appealing to the Ghana Police Service to deploy additional security personnel to the area to restore calm, arrest the perpetrators, and protect lives and property.
