MTN Ghana Foundation commissions GH¢900k Robotics and STEM ICT Centre at New Asafo M/A Basic School

The MTN Ghana Foundation has commissioned a state-of-the-art Robotics and STEM ICT Centre at the New Asafo M/A Basic School in a bid to enhance digital learning and improve the quality of education for pupils.


The facility, valued at approximately GH¢900,000, is equipped with more than 35 computers and modern robotics learning materials.
It is aimed at bridging the digital divide between rural and urban schools by giving pupils equal access to technology-driven education.
The project is expected to equip students with practical digital and engineering skills needed for the future of work.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held at the school on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Mr. Robert Kuzoe, said the fully refurbished centre is designed to prepare children for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
“With many countries embracing artificial intelligence and digital innovation, it is important to expose young learners to modern technology at an early age”.
“This centre will give pupils the tools and confidence to compete globally,” he stated.
Headmaster of New Asafo M/A Basic School, Mr. Antwi Gabriel, expressed appreciation to the MTN Ghana Foundation for the support.
He described the project as a major boost to teaching and learning in the school.
“This is a transformational gift for our pupils and teachers. We are grateful to MTN Ghana Foundation. We pledge to properly maintain and protect this facility so it can serve generations of learners to come,”. he assured.
Officials say the Robotics and STEM ICT Centre will serve as a model for integrating digital skills into basic education and help nurture the next generation of innovators in Ghana.
