Dr. Kingsley Agyemang denies wrongdoing, accuses High Commissioner of unwarranted public attacks
Lawyers for the former Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, have rejected allegations of wrongdoing levelled against their client by Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Sabah Zita Benson.
In a statement dated August 13, 2026, the lawyers described recent public comments by the High Commissioner as a “false and misleading narrative” intended to subject their client to public ridicule.
The legal team said Dr. Agyemang maintains that he performed his duties as Registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat with utmost diligence and denies any wrongdoing.
According to the lawyers, investigations have already been initiated into allegations of corruption surrounding scholarship awards during the tenure of the previous administration.
They therefore questioned the decision of the High Commissioner to publicly criticise their client while the appropriate security and investigative agencies are handling the matter.
The lawyers said Dr. Agyemang has fully cooperated with state security and investigative agencies and has made himself available to ensure that the allegations are thoroughly investigated.
“Our client has not only availed himself to the said state security agencies but has fully cooperated with them with a view to ensuring that the allegations are thoroughly investigated, his name is completely cleared, and the matter is brought to a definitive conclusion,” the statement said.
The legal team further described Dr. Agyemang as a law-abiding citizen who remains focused on serving the people of Abuakwa South and committed to the rule of law and due process.
They expressed confidence that the truth would eventually prevail and that their client would be vindicated.
