“Give NPP MPs peace of mind to work” — COKA charges Constituency Chairmen

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), the Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has directed constituency chairmen across the region to immediately curb the activities of party members campaigning prematurely against sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).

Addressing executive members, Chairman COKA expressed strong disapproval of individuals parading themselves as “incoming MPs” long before the party officially opens nominations.

He warned that this premature campaigning breeds indiscipline, undermines sitting lawmakers, and creates unnecessary internal insecurity.

“As constituency chairmen, I charge you to halt the activities of individuals campaigning before the official time, ensuring that nothing is done behind the backs of incumbent MPs to make them feel insecure,” Chairman Odeneho stated.

He stressed that, “Our MPs need peace of mind to focus on their legislative mandates and difficult assignments.”

Focusing on 2028:
Contextualizing his directive, Chairman COKA emphasized that the NPP’s overarching priority is to regroup, rebuild, and position itself to recapture political power in the 2028 general elections.

Highlighting the party’s recent electoral performance, he noted that the NPP lost over two million votes during the 2024 elections, a decline reflected across polling stations, electoral areas, constituencies, and regions nationwide.

“Our core mandate is to trace where we lost those votes and re-engage those electors, rather than engaging in destructive internal rivalries,” the Regional Chairman urged.

He called on executives to reach out to disgruntled voters and supporters who refrained from voting in 2024 well ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Grassroots Mobilization:
Expressing gratitude to the constituency chairmen for their unwavering support during the recently concluded regional executive elections, Chairman COKA assured them of the necessary logistics and resources to execute their duties effectively.

He urged party leaders to remain grounded in their respective jurisdictions and prioritize continuous grassroots mobilization.

“You were elected by your constituents to lead and make the party attractive to the electorate,” COKA stressed.

He added that, “Stay in your constituencies, remain visible, and dedicate your efforts to shoring up the NPP’s numbers for the upcoming general elections.”
