469 out of 800 farmers compensated for Accra-Kumasi Expressway Right of Way clearance – GAF
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has disclosed that 469 out of 800 farmers affected by the clearing of the Right of Way for the Accra-Kumasi Expressway have been compensated.
According to GAF, the remaining 331 affected farmers will also receive their compensation soon.
The Director of Engineering Services of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier General Jonas Wiafe, disclosed this on Monday, September 14, 2026, when GAF handed over the official report on the Right of Way to the Ministry of Roads and Highways at Kwaso in the Ashanti Region.
Addressing the gathering, Brigadier General Wiafe said beneficiaries in the first tranche of compensation received amounts ranging from as high as GH¢350,000 to as low as GH¢1,500, based on valuation data provided by the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
“Your Excellency, we expect that by the end of the exercise, 800 farmers in total will receive compensation,” he stated.
He added that no physical properties were destroyed during the clearing operation, and noted that the valuation and payment process is one of the shortest turnaround processes in the construction industry.
