Aduaben Stool Palace denies intimidation claims, orders land documents verification
The Aduaben Stool Palace in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region has denied reports that the queen mother, Nana Ama Kyifa II, is intimidating residents over land ownership.
The palace said no individual who owns land in the community, whether for farming or construction, has been subjected to harassment or intimidation by the queen mother.
The clarification follows a 6am radio news report aired by Angel FM Kumasi on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in which some residents alleged that Nana Ama Kyifa II had been destroying their farms and buildings on lands they claimed to have legitimately acquired.
The residents reportedly said they acquired the lands from the late queen mother of Aduaben, Nana Afia Sarpong, and therefore questioned the basis for the current queen mother’s decision to reclaim the lands.
They maintained that their acquisition of the properties was legitimate and that Nana Ama Kyifa II had no justification to interfere with their ownership.
However, Nana Ama Kyifa II, who was enstooled by the Asantehene as queen mother of Aduaben in August 2023, said her only action since assuming the position had been to request land allocation documents from people acquiring or holding lands within her jurisdiction for authentication.
She explained that following the death of Nana Afia Sarpong in 2001, she had come across land allocation documents issued and signed between 2002 and 2023, a period during which there was no substantive queen mother of Aduaben.
Nana Ama Kyifa II, who is also the Otumfuo Adontenhemaa, has consequently directed all persons who have acquired lands within the jurisdiction to submit their allocation and ownership documents to the Aduaben Palace for verification and authentication.
She insisted that the exercise was intended to establish the legitimacy of land transactions and protect the interests of all parties.
Nana Ama Kyifa II added that until the documents covering the allocation, acquisition and ownership of the lands are verified by the palace, affected persons are not expected to resume work on the disputed properties.
