Obuasi fire victims receive cash, sewing machines from Ashanti NPP executives

The Ashanti Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Regional Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (popularly known as Asanteman COKA), paid a surprise visit on Tuesday morning to the Obuasi Municipality to extend relief to victims of the recent Town-Hall Market fire.

To aid in the victims’ recovery and provide immediate economic support, the executive team donated 15 sewing machines and GH¢ 40,000.00 in cash.

Reassurance:

Prior to the presentation, Chairman Odeneho and his team toured several satellite markets across the Obuasi township to inspect local conditions and engage with residents.

Addressing the affected market women and traders at the main market arena, the Chairman noted that the regional leadership organized the relief mission immediately upon learning of the disaster.

“Today’s donation is to let you know that we care about everyone living in the Ashanti Region, especially our mothers and traders who keep our local economy alive,” Chairman Odeneho stated.

Responding to concerns raised by local vendor groups, the Chairman emphasized that the NPP’s core mission centers on human welfare and economic empowerment.

He assured the traders that the newly elected regional executive body is committed to prioritizing the needs of citizens, including market women, small business owners, and local artisans.

He further noted that the regional executive team works closely with party leadership to ensure that community concerns directly inform policy planning as the party prepares its platform for the upcoming general elections.

Gratitude:

Receiving the items on behalf of the affected traders, Mrs. Helena Mensah expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chairman Odeneho and the delegation.

She noted that while the community anticipated a visit, the scale of the financial support and equipment exceeded expectations.

Equipment:

The 15 sewing machines will be handed directly to tailors and dressmakers whose equipment and shops were destroyed in the blaze.

Financial Assistance:

The GH¢ 40,000 cash grant will be distributed among affected vendors to serve as seed capital to help them restock their businesses.
