Funds ready for completion of Krofrom Market project – Kumasi Mayor

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Agyeman Ofori Boadi, has announced that funds are now available for the completion of the long-delayed Krofrom Market project in the Kumasi Metropolis.
The project, which was initiated in 2007 under former President John Agyekum Kufuor, has remained stalled for several years due to funding challenges.
The situation has raised concerns among traders and residents, who say the abandoned project has become a security concern and a hideout for criminals and reptiles.
Speaking on Otec FM’s morning show, Nyansapo, hosted by Kwaku Owusu Boateng on Wednesday, Hon. Agyeman Ofori Boadi said the project could resume by October this year, following the availability of funds for its completion.
He said the funds are currently available at the Bank of Ghana and indicated that he was expected to travel to Accra to facilitate their release.
“Funds are now available at the Bank of Ghana, and I will be in Accra this week for the release of the funds,” he stated.
The Mayor further disclosed that the contractors were ready to return to the site and commence work, stressing that completing the project would help boost commercial activities in Kumasi.
He said the completed Krofrom Market would also help ease congestion at Kejetia and other major markets in the city, while providing a safer and more organised trading environment for residents and traders.
