Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in the Ashanti Region, has awarded scholarships to more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students under his scholarship scheme.

The MP presented the final batch of scholarships on Monday, bringing the total number of beneficiaries under the initiative to more than 200.

Speaking after the presentation, Mr Awuah said the scheme was aimed at easing the financial burden on students and helping them pursue their academic ambitions without being hindered by financial difficulties.

He said the initiative was particularly important to him because he understood the challenges students faced in paying school fees and the pain of seeing their educational aspirations threatened by a lack of financial resources.

“I know what it means to struggle to pay school fees. I know how painful it can be when a student’s dreams are threatened simply because of financial difficulties. That is why this initiative means so much to me,” he said.

Mr Awuah stressed that no promising student should be compelled to abandon their education because of an inability to pay school fees.

He expressed the hope that the scholarship support would enable the beneficiaries to concentrate on their studies, complete their respective programmes and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The occasion was attended by the Kumasi Metropolitan Education Director, students, parents and guardians, as well as members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Students appreciate MP
The beneficiary students expressed their appreciation to the MP for the financial assistance, describing the initiative as an important intervention that would help ease the burden of paying their school fees.

They said the support would provide relief to them and their families and enable them to focus more on their academic work.
The students commended Mr Awuah for investing in their education and appealed to him to sustain the initiative to extend similar assistance to more students in the constituency.

They also expressed their commitment to taking their studies seriously and making good use of the opportunity provided through the scholarship scheme.
Parents commend MP for educational support
Parents and guardians of the beneficiaries also expressed appreciation to the MP for supporting their children’s education through the scholarship scheme.

They said the financial assistance would help reduce the pressure on families struggling to meet the cost of tertiary education.
The parents commended Mr Awuah for the intervention, saying the support would give their children a better opportunity to pursue their academic ambitions.

They encouraged him to sustain the initiative to enable more students from less privileged backgrounds to access higher education.
NPP members commend MP
Some members of the NPP who attended the presentation also commended the MP for the scholarship initiative, describing it as a contribution towards educational development in the constituency.

They said supporting students to overcome financial barriers to education was important to building a well-educated population and creating opportunities for young people.
The party members encouraged the MP to continue supporting education and other initiatives that would improve the welfare of constituents.

The scholarship scheme has so far benefited more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students, according to the MP.
