Ejura Divisional Council Holds Vigil, one-week observation for Late Queen Mother Nana Akosua Akyamaa

The Ejura Divisional Council in the Ashanti Region organized a vigil for the late Queen Mother of Ejura, Nana Akosua Akyamaa, who passed away in July 2024 at the age of 108.

The vigil, held on Friday, July 26, 2024, brought together hundreds of families, sympathizers, traditional leaders, clergy, and residents at the forecourt of Ejura Palace.

Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, the maternal grandson of the late queen mother, recounted her good works, including her bravery in defending Ejura’s sacred stools against oppressors during the administration of late President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

“The late Queen Mother Nana Akosua Akyamaa will be remembered for her wisdom, guidance, and contributions to the Ejura community”.
He emphasized that Nana Akosua Akyamaa laid the foundation of Ejura, making it a thriving home for thousands of people.
The vigil featured a solemn ceremony with visuals of the late queen mother playing on a giant screen, and notable figures sharing fond memories of her.
The event was followed by a one-week observation, which included a Requiem Mass by the Anglican Church, where special prayers were held for her and the entire Ejura community on Saturday July 27, 2024.
