Dumsor: Demonstrate your problem-solving prowess – KsTU Lecturer Challenges President Mahama

Dr. Collins Kankam Kwartey, lecturer at Kumasi Technical University KsTU

A lecturer at Kumasi Technical University KsTU and political commentator, Dr. Collins Kankam Kwartey, has urged Ghana’s new President John Dramani Mahama to prove himself as a capable leader amidst looming dumsor threats in the energy sector.

This comes shortly after President Mahama’s inauguration and a meeting with various power generation companies to address the escalating situation.

During an interview on OTEC FM’s morning show “Nyansapo,” Dr. Kwarteng  emphasized that President Mahama must redeem himself from his previous governance record.

Although the former government should have secured sufficient fuel for power generation, Dr. Kankam stressed that the new administration must take urgent action to prevent intermittent power supply.

Dr. Kankam cautioned against hiring inexperienced electricity companies, citing the previous government’s unsuccessful partnership with PDS.

He also expressed concerns about privatizing the Electricity Company of Ghana, suggesting that the current leadership has the necessary expertise to oversee the energy sector.

As President Mahama navigates these challenges, his administration’s response will be closely watched by Ghanaians and international observers alike.
