The New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Akim Oda constituency in the Eastern region, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has urged the party supporters to gear up for the 2028 elections.
He said the party should not let the defeat demoralize it but instead work together to rebuild the party and make it stronger.
During the elections, the NPP, which had 137 MPs in the 2020 elections, dropped significantly to 88 MPs in 2024, a situation they attributed to ‘voter apathy’.
The party’s presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), candidate John Dramani Mahama.
Hon Alexander Akwasi Acquah, who attributed the defeat to voter apathy, expressed confidence that they can win the 2028 elections if legitimate measures are taken by both party executives and supporters.
The legislator said this during an interview on Otec FM’s morning show ‘Nyansapo’ on Friday, hosted by Captain Koda.
Hon Akwasi Acquah emphasized the importance of unity and active participation among party members to strengthen their chances in the next election.
“The party will be stronger, better, and ready for the 2028 elections if we come together by putting the defeat behind us,” he stated.
“The 2028 preparations start today; recapturing political power in 2028 is within our reach. We those in top ranks will do whatever we must do to make it a reality,” Hon Akwasi Aquah assured.
