Those are the words of a liar – Sammy Gyamfi hits back at Amin Adam

The Acting Managing Director of Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, has refuted claims made by the former Finance Minister, Dr. Amin Adam, regarding the previous NPP administration not collecting the 10% betting tax.
Dr. Amin Adam, while addressing the media in Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, shortly after the presentation of the budget, said, “Ladies and gentlemen, the betting tax that they said they had abolished—we never collected betting tax. We never implemented the betting tax, so to come and tell Ghanaians that you have abolished something that was never implemented is to deceive the people of Ghana.”
In an exclusive interview with TV3 on Wednesday, March 12, Sammy Gyamfi described Amin Adam’s comment as “lies,” stating that the Karaga MP did not effectively deliver his mandate as a former Finance Minister.
“Those are the words of a liar. Either he set out to lie to the people of this country, or he was simply not on top of his work as Finance Minister,” he stated.
Sammy Gyamfi asserted that the previous NPP administration implemented the tax on sports betting but did not commence implementation on national lotteries.
“They should say that they started implementing it on sports betting but did not commence implementation on national and private lotteries, and that would be correct. But don’t say you never collected the tax.
“So, if you did not collect the tax, why was Bawumia promising to scrap the betting tax? If the tax was not in force and was not being implemented, what were they promising to scrap? They have been exposed,” he noted.
