A Senior Lecturer at the Department of Educational Leadership at Akenten Appiah- Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Dr. Banabas Addai Amanfo, has emphasized the need for private schools to provide quality assurance as the government prepares to include them in the free senior high school policy.

“Private schools must be ready to provide facilities and the needed resources, including human resources, to ensure this move becomes a successful one,” Dr. Amanfo stated on the Kumasi based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show Nyansapo on Tuesday March 18,2025.

He cautioned that Ghana should not rush into absorbing private schools into the policy without conducting thorough due diligence to ensure students receive quality training.

Dr. Amanfo’s comments come after the government announced plans to post 150,000 students to private schools across the country, fulfilling a promise to include private schools in the free SHS policy.

While Dr. Amanfo supports the move, he stressed the importance of both parties implementing measures to create conducive learning environment for students and teachers.

He highlighted the need for Ghana to prioritize students and the quality of training they receive, placing their needs above individual or political interests.
