Adum fire victims receive GHC 600,000 immediate support as recovery begins

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced that a total of GHC 600,000 has been raised within 24 hours to support traders affected by the recent devastating fire outbreak at Adum PZ and Blue Light in Kumasi.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Amoakohene revealed that the funds were mobilized through donations, including GHC 500,000 from a generous philanthropist and an immediate relief package of GHC 100,000 to assist the most vulnerable victims.

“Earlier this afternoon, together with the Hon. Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, and the CEO of MASLOC, Madam Abigail Akwambea Mensah, we engaged the leadership of the affected traders at Adum PZ and Blue Light following the recent devastating fire outbreak,” the post read.

He further conveyed the sympathies of former President John Dramani Mahama to the victims and assured them of his unwavering support as they recover and rebuild their businesses.

According to Dr. Amoakohene, the Gender Minister and MASLOC CEO also pledged their respective support for the affected traders.

“In times like these, we must stand united, and we remain committed to helping our people get back on their feet,” the Minister added.

The fire incident, which destroyed several shops and properties, has left many traders counting their losses.

The donations and commitments are expected to provide much-needed relief to affected students, widows, and single parents while authorities conduct a full assessment for further interventions.
