Horrific: Three motorcyclists burnt to death in fiery crash at Manso-Watreso

A devastating accident on Monday morning has left the Manso Watreso community in mourning, as three young motorcyclists perished in a fiery crash that occurred between 9:00 and 10:00 am along the Watreso road in the Amansie South District.

The accident involved two motorbikes traveling at high speeds in opposite directions.

According to eyewitness accounts, the riders, each carrying a passenger, collided head-on with such force that both motorbikes exploded into flames on impact.

Three out of the four men on the bikes were killed instantly, burned beyond recognition in the inferno.
“The scene was horrific,” said Kwame Manu, a resident who was among the first to arrive at the crash site. “We heard a loud bang, and by the time we got there, the fire had already consumed them. We tried to help, but the flames were too strong.”
Residents attempted to extinguish the blaze using water and sand, but their efforts were in vain. By the time emergency services from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service arrived, the damage had already been done.
The charred remains of the victims have been transported to the morgue at St. Martin’s Hospital in Agroyesum for preservation and further examination.
While the victims have yet to be formally identified, early reports suggest they were residents of surrounding communities within the Manso area.
Preliminary investigations suggest that over-speeding and reckless riding may have contributed to the crash.
The narrow, dusty road has long been a source of concern for locals, who say it lacks proper signage and enforcement of safety regulations.
“This tragedy must be a wake-up call,” said one local leader, calling on authorities to ramp up road safety campaigns and bring regulation to the increasing number of commercial motorcyclists—commonly known as okada—operating in the district.
Motorbike-related accidents have become a growing problem in Ghana, particularly in rural regions where bikes serve as a common mode of transport. This latest incident adds to the rising statistics of fatal crashes involving motorcycles.
The Amansie South District Police Command has assured the public that a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, the community is rallying around the grieving families as they come to terms with the tragic loss.
