A/R: Nigerian Woman Jailed 15 Months for Assaulting Daughter
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the conviction of Beauty Alakwe, a 34-year-old Nigerian national, for assaulting her 9-year-old daughter at Duase near Kenyasi.
Alakwe was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment with hard labour and fined GHC 6,000 by the Circuit Court, Tafo, Kumasi on December 23, 2025.
The court heard that Alakwe was arrested on November 22, 2025, following a complaint by a Duase resident and investigations by the Kenyase District DOVVSU.
The police command commended public cooperation in the case and cautioned against mob justice, reiterating commitment to protecting children and vulnerable persons.
The court also ordered social welfare services to ensure the victim’s welfare and reunification with family in Nigeria.
Alakwe has been sent to Central Prisons, Kumasi, to serve her sentence after failing to pay the fine.
