Baba Yara stampede victim left to struggle despite government’s promises

A disturbing video featuring Sandra Boateng, a 24-year-old nursing graduate and victim of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium stampede, has gone viral on social media.

Sandra was injured during the military recruitment exercise at the stadium and has been battling for her life at home.

According to reports, Sandra had completed her nursing training but was unemployed, leading her to consider joining the military.

Despite the government’s promise to support victims of the stampede, Sandra’s family claims they have been neglected and are struggling to cover her medical expenses.

Speaking to OTEC news, Sandra’s father, Mr. Benjamin Boateng, expressed fear of losing his daughter and appealed for help.

“The family is in financial distress due to the huge financial burden following the incident,” he said.

The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for the government to take responsibility for Sandra’s care.

The stampede at Baba Yara Sports Stadium occurred on November 12, 2025, resulting in six deaths and several injuries.
