3 dead, 11 injured in head-on crash at Ajumako-Kokoben in Central Region

Three people have lost their lives while eleven others sustained injuries in a head-on collision at Ajumako Kokoben in the Central Region.

The accident According to a report by the Ghana National Fire Service GNFS occurred on Monday, 20th July 2026, and involved a Toyota Isuzu with registration number GE 1361-25 and a Toyota Voxy with registration number CN 478-26.

A distress call was received at 12:10pm and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene at 12:19pm.
Firefighters rescued four victims, while seven others had already been pulled out by passersby before the crew’s arrival.
The injured were handed over to medical personnel for treatment.
Preliminary information from a passenger indicates that the Toyota Voxy was allegedly overtaking another vehicle at high speed when poor visibility caused by dust led to a head-on collision with the oncoming Toyota Isuzu.
The exact cause of the accident is, however, still under investigation.
Firefighters secured the scene, cleared the roadway, and restored the free flow of traffic before returning to base at 2:07pm.
