Health Minister, Ghana Medical Trust Fund administrator pay courtesy call on Asantehene

The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, together with officials of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund GMTF, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Asanteman Council in Kumasi.

The visit on Friday formed part of efforts by the Ministry of Health to brief the Asantehene on developments within the health sector.

It also sought to account for the Ministry’s activities, and seek the Asantehene’s blessings, guidance, and support for ongoing healthcare initiatives, including the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh together with the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, had a private session with the Asantehene to discuss health matters.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Hon. Akandoh highlighted key achievements of the Ministry since assuming office.

“We have made significant progress in expanding healthcare infrastructure. I outlined ongoing and completed health projects across the Ashanti Region and other parts of the country,” he said. 

“This is all part of the government’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services for every Ghanaian.”

The Minister further emphasized the importance of working with traditional leadership to drive health outcomes.

“The Ministry will continue to collaborate with traditional authorities and other stakeholders to strengthen healthcare delivery,” Hon. Akandoh noted.

“With the support and guidance of Otumfuo and the Asanteman Council, we are confident that government health interventions will reach and benefit citizens across the country.”

The courtesy call underscores the government’s focus on partnering with traditional authorities to advance health sector reforms under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
