Asantehene has personally been funding some projects in Kumasi; I won’t disgrace the trust he has placed in me — KMA Boss

The MCE of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman, has pledged not to betray the confidence reposed in him by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, saying he would serve with integrity and avoid any act that could bring disgrace to the Asante Kingdom.

He said although he was nominated by the government of President John Mahama, it was the Asantehene who strongly supported his appointment as Kumasi Mayor.

“I will not disgrace Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. I will not do anything that will bring shame to his name or mine,” he said during an interview on Otec FM’s morning show ‘Nyansapo’ hosted by Kwaku Owusu Boateng on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Hon. Ofori Agyeman disclosed that the Asantehene has been providing him with overwhelming support, revealing that the King personally finances some development projects in the Kumasi metropolis to accelerate the city’s growth.

He also said Otumfuo has been assisting him financially to meet some of his personal needs, describing himself as “the most fortunate person in the Ashanti Kingdom” because of the King’s generosity and encouragement.

According to the KMA Chief Executive, the support he continues to receive from the Asantehene has strengthened his determination to lead the assembly with honesty and accountability.

He stressed that he would not indulge in any form of financial malfeasance that could undermine the trust the Asantehene has placed in him.

“I owe it to Otumfuo and the people of Kumasi to protect the confidence reposed in me through honest leadership,” he said.

Hon. Ofori Agyeman further pledged to work tirelessly to transform Kumasi, saying delivering visible development would be the best way to honour the trust and support of the Asantehene.

“I am determined to develop Kumasi and justify the trust Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has placed in me,” he stated.
