Cecilia Dapaah to Chair NPP national elections vetting committee

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set up a vetting committee chaired by former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah ahead of the party’s national elections.

The party is set to open nominations from August 17 to August 20, while the vetting of aspirants will take place from August 31 to September 3.

The list of qualified aspirants is expected to be made available on September 5.

According to the party, an appeal process will be allowed until September 14, after which the notice of poll will be announced.

Addressing the press, Chairman of the party’s Election Committee, Frederick Opare Ansah, noted that these processes will pave the way for the elections, scheduled for October 3.

“The committee has established a National Vetting Committee chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah. The other members are Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Said, Ambassador Baffour Adjei Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, and Arnold Boateng, with Evans Nimako serving as the secretary to the Vetting Committee,” he said

Meanwhile, the party says nomination forms for the position of National Chairman will cost GH¢50,000, while forms for First Vice Chairperson and General Secretary will cost GH¢30,000 and GH¢25,000 respectively.

Forms for the other positions will be sold at GH¢10,000, with a discounted fee of GH¢8,000 for aspirants seeking positions in special wings such as the Youth, Women, and Nasara wings.
