Woman abandons newborn at Bekwai

A newborn has allegedly been abandoned by an unidentified woman at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region.

The baby was found on the morning of Thursday, August 20, 2026, after the woman allegedly left the child and fled the area.

Residents who found the baby alerted the relevant authorities. The identity and whereabouts of the woman are yet to be established.

The police have commenced investigations into the incident.

The baby has since been admitted to Bekwai Government Hospital for medical care as efforts continue to locate the woman.

The public has been urged to provide any information that could assist the authorities in identifying and locating her.
