
The full amount needed for the construction of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway will be ready by 31st December, 2026.
The assurance was given by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
He was speaking on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Kwaso in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region, during the official handing over of the 175.6-kilometer cleared Right of Way by the Ghana Armed Forces to the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
Dr. Forson said government will not borrow a pesewa for the project, emphasizing that it is fully funded by the Government of Ghana.
He commended the Ghana Armed Forces for delivering professional and on-time work, describing them as trusted partners in building the nation.
According to him, the expressway project will improve road safety and significantly cut travel time and cost between Accra and Kumasi.
He added that President John Dramani Mahama has shown that Ghana can build boldly and spend wisely.
