Emergency Nurse Specialist at By Grace Medical Centre at Bremang UGC in the Suame municipality in the Ashanti region, Mrs Kate Boamah Appiah, urged men to pay closer attention to their partners’ breasts during intimacy.
She stated that breast sucking can help reduce stress while providing an opportunity to notice possible signs of breast cancer.
She said men should take an active interest in their partners’ breast health by watching out for unusual changes, including lumps and pain, and encouraging them to seek medical attention whenever such symptoms are detected.
Mrs Boamah Appiah said “in order to have access to the breasts all the time, men should also look out for changes in them while sucking.”
She made the statement during an interview on Otec FM’s morning show Nyansapo, hosted by Kwaku Owusu Boateng on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
Mrs Boamah Appiah explained that any unusual changes, particularly lumps or pain, should prompt women to visit a health facility for examination and appropriate medical care.
“Though not all lumps are cancerous, it is safer to report them to the hospital for prompt attention,” she advised, warning against ignoring symptoms that could require urgent medical assessment.
Describing breast cancer as a major cause of cancer-related deaths among women, Mrs Boamah Appiah urged men to support their partners by encouraging regular breast examinations and screening.
She called on women to take advantage of available screening services, particularly during October, which is observed worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
She made these comments ahead of By Grace Medical Centre’s annual breast cancer screening exercise, scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026, at Bremang in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
She encouraged women to visit health facilities for screening, stressing that early detection and prompt treatment are essential in reducing the risk of serious complications from breast cancer.
