Fire guts seven bedroom house at Tonoso, properties worth milions destroyed

A seven-bedroom residential building has been gutted by fire at Tanoso Electoral Area in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, near the Anglican Church.

The incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

According to residents in the area, they suspect a gas explosion may have triggered the fire outbreak.

However, the cause of the fire has not yet been officially established.

Residents including the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Aron Nandie, said fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment available in the surrounding area were faulty, leaving them unable to contain the blaze.

Fire officers from Chirapatre eventually intervened and managed to bring the situation under control approximately one hour after the incident was reported.

Unfortunately, household items and other properties inside the building were reduced to ashes, with virtually nothing salvaged.

The extent of the financial loss and whether there were any casualties remain unconfirmed.
