Police dismiss 10 missing manhood reports in Asankragwa after medical examinations

The Asankragwa Divisional Police Command has dismissed 10 reported cases of suspected missing genitalia in its operational area as false after medical examinations confirmed that all the complainants’ genitalia were intact and medically normal.

The Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Vitus Napen, disclosed this at a press briefing in Asankragwa on Monday, October 26, 2026.

He said the first case was reported at Wassa Dunkwa on October 17, with the division subsequently recording nine additional reports.

According to him, six cases were recorded at Wassa Dunkwa, two at Asankragwa, one at Aboi Nkwanta and another at Breman.

The complainants had alleged that their genitalia disappeared after coming into physical contact with other people.

Chief Superintendent Napen said all those who reported the incidents were referred for medical examinations, which established that their genitalia were intact and medically normal.

He said preliminary investigations suggested that panic, anxiety and misinformation had contributed to the spread of the allegations.

The commander cautioned the public against making false reports, warning that individuals found culpable could face prosecution for offences relating to the publication of false news and deceiving a public officer.

Mob attacks police vehicle at Breman

Chief Superintendent Napen also disclosed that a mob attacked and vandalised a police patrol vehicle at Breman when officers arrived to rescue a suspect accused of causing the disappearance of a man’s genitalia.

He said the mob smashed the rear windscreen of the vehicle in an attempt to lynch the suspect.

The commander condemned the attack, describing it as criminal, and warned that anyone who assaulted security personnel or destroyed state property would be arrested and prosecuted.

He urged residents not to take the law into their own hands but to allow the police to investigate allegations of criminal activity.

He also called on chiefs, opinion leaders and assembly members in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality to intensify public education and encourage residents to report suspected crimes to the police.

Chief Superintendent Napen said no arrests had been made in connection with the vandalism as of the briefing, but investigations were ongoing to identify those responsible.
