IGP to appear before Parliament on state of Ghana’s security

A former Deputy Minister for the Interior and Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, James Agalga says Parliament will be inviting the Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu to apprise the House of happenings on security.

He told GBC’s Ibrahim Kwarteng that Parliament is extremely worried over the spate of armed robbery.

Mr. Agalga said what is happening with the country’s security, points to failure on the part of government and the security apparatus to fight crime.

Mr. Agalga said the change in the Police hierarchy may not necessarily be the solution to fighting armed robbery, hence a composite mechanism should be adopted.

He denied suggestions that the NDC as a government failed in tackling crime hands on.
