Boy, 8, drowns at Jachie as woman, 52, also drowned at Begoro

An eight (8) year old boy has drowned in River Twede at Jachie Pramso in the Ashanti Region.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday evening.
A community member speaking to newsmen said the deceased met his untimely death while crossing the river when he was returning home from farm with his parents.
The Community members upon hearing the news organized a search party to retrieve the body but the effort proved futile.
The team is expected to resume the search for the body on Sunday.
in a related development, A 52-year-old woman who is yet to be identified has drowned in a river at Begoro in the Eastern region.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 1, 2018.
Information gathered by Starr News indicates that the deceased left home around 5:30 am to recover a debt from one of her debtors in the same vicinity but at the river bank.
However, her body was found drowned in the river at about 6:30 am by a resident who went to fetch water.
A joint rescue team of personnel from the Begoro Police Command and National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) went to the scene to retrieve her lifeless body and has been deposited at the Begoro District Hospital.
The District Director of NADMO in the Fanteakwa District, Rev. Acheampong Opoku Agyemang, told Starr News, no marks of foul play were noticed on the body during the preliminary examination but assured that further investigation is ongoing.
He, however, admitted that the area where the incident occurred requires some safety measures to prevent future casualties.
