COVID-19: Ghana’s death toll climbs to 1,017

As of 25 August 2021, a total of 1,017 patients had succumbed to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ghana Health Service has announced.

Some 630 cases were recently confirmed within the period.

According to the latest GHS figures, the active caseload is now 7,024.

Of that number, 54 are critical while 141 severe.

Since mid-March 2020, Ghana has recorded a total of 118,266 cases.

Out of that number, 110,225 have recovered.

Regional breakdown:

Greater Accra Region – 63,490

Ashanti Region – 19,948

Western Region – 6,720

Eastern Region – 5,877

Central Region – 4,259

Volta Region – 4,209

Bono East Region – 2,344

Bono Region – 2,037

Northern Region – 1,704

Upper East Region – 1,352

Ahafo Region – 1,022

Western North Region – 956

Oti Region – 733

Upper West Region – 556

North East Region – 249

Savannah Region – 187
