A section of Ghanaians has expressed disappointment in President John Dramani Mahama’s administration over its failure to address the erratic power supply, popularly known as Dumsor, after 100 days in office.
Despite huge promises, the president’s inability to reduce the impact of Dumsor has raised concerns among residents.
Residents in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region reacted to President Mahama’s first 100 days in office, expressing their disappointment.
“With promises from the president in the build-up to the 2024 polls, I was expecting to see massive improvement in electricity supply,” said a cold street operator at Dichemso Ante Ataa.
“It’s very unfortunate the situation has gotten worse under this administration.”
A barber shop owner, Kwame Boateng, shared similar sentiments, stating, “It’s understandable the president may not solve the problem of Dumsor entirely in the first 100 days, but at least we have to see some level of improvement.”
The residents are calling on President Mahama to urgently address the Dumsor menace to save businesses from collapsing.
President Mahama had outlined plans to revitalize Ghana’s economy, including a 24-hour economy initiative aimed at creating decent and well-paying jobs through industrialization and enhanced agriculture.
However, the persistent power outages have raised questions about the administration’s ability to deliver on its promises.
